A Soul Shepherding Moment
By Bill Gaultiere © 2012
I love it when people ask me, “How can I best support my pastor?” I love this question because caring for pastors and their wives is the heartbeat of Soul Shepherding.
My answer will surprise you: When you listen to the pastor’s message don’t critique it. Instead, ask yourself, “What is God saying to me?”
Expectations
Most of us put unrealistic expectations on our pastors. We want to be inspired, fed from the Bible, and drawn into an experience of God’s presence. And we want it to happen for us in an hour. Pastors feel this and it’s a heavy burden [...]

Soul Shepherding Moments

God says to us, “Sit down,” but a lot of us have trouble doing this!
It’s especially difficult for those of us who are leaders, pastors, or care-givers. We race ahead to get things done. We stand up to take charge or to help people. But we don’t like to sit down and wait! We’re not good at listening patiently.
It’s hard for active personalities to believe, but we’ll accomplish more of what’s really important if we first sit down before the Lord—delighting ourselves in him, waiting to see what he’s doing, listening to what he’s saying, and depending on him as we [...]

We call upon you, O Jesus, to be the Leader of the retreat Bill is leading this weekend at Palomar Christian Conference Center for 20 pastors and men from their churches, 150 men in all.
Father, let your love pour through Bill. Help him to listen to you as you give him the mind of Christ and as you impress your thoughts into his mind, moment-by-moment. Help him to receive and rely upon the anointing of your Spirit that his words would be Spirit-words of truth, healing, and power. Use Bill as a conduit to deliver the Word of God in [...]

With Jesus Beside Still Waters

We’ve been providing care, counsel, and prayer to pastors and other servants of Christ for a number of years. One of the most important things we do is help them to rest in God.
Every pastor and ministry leader I know — starting with the one that looks back at me in the mirror! — needs more of the rest of soul that Jesus offers us in his embrace (Matthew 11:28-30). Probably this is true for you as well.
How easy it is to be so busy with God’s work and caring for people that you neglect your own [...]

It's time to step out of the boat!

Effective December 31st, 2010 I have decided to leave my part time staff position at the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, CA so that I can be full time in the ministry of Soul Shepherding that God has given to Kristi and I.
This is a big step of faith for us. We feel like Peter sitting in his fishing boat when Jesus, standing on the stormy waters, called him to come. In faith he had to step out of the boat and walk on the water to Jesus! He discovered [...]

Bill & Kristi Gaultiere
As Christian psychotherapists since 1987 we shepherd souls with Christ.
Our nonprofit ministry is called Soul Shepherding because we assist the Good Shepherd as He restores your soul and empowers your ministry to others.
In counseling, spiritual mentoring, and ministry consultations we meet with pastors and others who want to serve the Lord Jesus. In groups, seminars, and retreats we teach ministry leaders and others how to connect authentically with Christ and one another through Scripture meditation, reflective prayer, soul talk, and other spiritual disciplines. On this website we give away Soul Shepherding resources to bless you and your ministry to others.
The result of [...]
